Training Programmes

 

1. Infant and Early Childhood Educator BA

Duration of studies: 6 semesters

Required number of credits for Bachelor’s degree: 180 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The objective of the programme is to train infant and early childhood educators who, based on their knowledge, skills and attitude, are capable of satisfying the physical and psychological needs, the education and development of children under the age of three. Who understand the early childhood education system and are capable of performing early childhood education tasks in day care centres and other institutes educating children under the age of three with the autonomy and responsibility excepted from their professional competency. Who are capable of professional innovation, social engagement, continuous renewal and development. Who are ready to continue their studies at Master’s level.

 

Fields of the programme:

- Social sciences, IT 18 credits;

- Pedagogy, psychology 55 credits;

- Health science 24 credits;

- The methodology of day care and institutionalized early childhood education, development support and care 30 credits;

- Practical training 30 credits.

 

Specialised knowledge related to the professional activity of infant and early childhood educator: institutionalised early childhood education, innovation in the field of early childhood education, supporting family education, child protection, educating children requiring particular attention, art education in early childhood, early childhood and foreign language, inter- and multicultural education.

 

Requirements of the practical training:

Part of the practical training:

- Group and individual institutional practices and their analysis, documentation;

- Related complex practice.

In the last semester of the programme, the duration of the related complex practical training is at least six weeks which can be divided into phases so that each phase may not be shorter than 2 weeks. The complex practical training can only be performed at day care centre and mini day care centre. All practices are 30 credits, of which the related complex practice is 10 credits.

 

 

2. Kindergarten Educator BA

Duration of studies: 6 semesters

Required number of credits for Bachelor’s degree: 180 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The purpose of the training is to train kindergarten educators, who are able to perform the tasks of kindergarten education, to educate children aged 3-7 and to practice the pedagogical profession.

In addition to the above, the aim of the training of students choosing the ethnic minority specialization is to train kindergarten educators who are able to educate children aged 3-7 in Hungarian as well as in ethnic minority language, to develop and form ethnic minority identity adjusting to age groups and to mediate ethnic minority culture. Who are ready to continue their studies at Master’s level.

 

Fields of the programme:

- Pedagogy, psychology, social sciences, IT 32-45 credits;

- Methodology of the activities of pre-school education (game; poetry, storytelling; singing, music, singing games, children dance; drawing, painting, moulding, handwork; physical activity; active learning of the outside world; work-related activities) 54-72 credits;

- Further specialised knowledge of kindergarten educator qualification or knowledge of the ethnic minority kindergarten education specialization: 32-40 credits:

a) by kindergarten educator qualification: special knowledge in the fields relevant to the needs of profession, such as family pedagogy, integrated inclusive education, environmental education, multi- and intercultural education, children and adapted physical education, special education;

b) by ethnic minority kindergarten educator qualification: ethnic minority language, ethnic minority knowledge, theory and practice of bilingualism, knowledge of methodology and practice of ethnic minority kindergarten activities;

- Practical training module: 26-34 credits.

 

Requirements of the practical training:

- Planning, organizing and managing complex, parallel, differentiated activities within the framework of group and individual exercises, analysing and documenting them, making reflections and self-reflections;

- Complex individual practice of kindergarten educator candidates, the duration of which in the sixth semester is 8-10 weeks, and the total credit value within the practical training is at least 9 credits.

 

English in the Kindergarten Specialisation

Specialization can be taken by kindergarten educator, full-time and correspondent students.

Requirement for taking specialization:

Taking specialization is possible in the first semester; specialization may be taken by a person who has written an English language placement test and has passed it and/or participated in an oral language aptitude test requested by instructors. Students with state-recognized B2 or C1 complex (former intermediate, or advanced C) language exam do not need to write a placement test. Specialization can be started with a sufficient number of candidates.

Upon completion of the specialization and the required credit number, students will receive a certificate (insert sheet) next to the degree.

Number of credits obtainable in specialization: 28 credits

Kindergarten practice should be spent in an English (bilingual) kindergarten group.

External practical training shall preferably be spent in an English (bilingual) kindergarten group.

 

3. Ethnic Minority (German) Kindergarten Educator BA

Duration of studies: 6 semesters

Required number of credits for Bachelor’s degree: 180 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The purpose of the training is to train kindergarten educators, who are able to perform the tasks of kindergarten education, to educate children aged 3-7, to practice pedagogical profession and, in addition the Hungarian, to educate children aged 3-7 in German ethnic minority language, to develop and form ethnic minority identity adjusting to age groups, to mediate German ethnic minority culture and are ready to continue their studies at Master’s level.

 

Fields of the programme:

Special professional (ethnic minority) subjects in addition to the fields of Kindergarten Educator BA:

German and ethnic minority children's literature, theory and practice of bilingualism, ethnic minority knowledge, German synthesis grammar, German language arts, country knowledge, ethnic minority general education

Practices: Kindergarten practice, - territorial, professional, summer practice. (Partly abroad, once mandatory in a German ethnic minority group in Hungary)

 

In addition to educate children aged 3-7 in Hungarian language, ethnic minority kindergarten educators are also prepared to educate the age group in ethnic minority language.

Teaching and examinations of subjects of the minority kindergarten educator specialization, including the final exam, are held in the given ethnic minority language.

 

Requirements of the practical training:

In the ethnic minority kindergarten educator specialization, the practice of ethnic minority training is at least 6 credits.

In the ethnic minority kindergarten educator specialization, the practical training is conducted partly in ethnic minority language and in ethnic minority kindergarten.

 

4. Social Pedagogy BA

Duration of studies: 7 semesters

Required number of credits for Bachelor’s degree: 210 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The aim of the training is to train social pedagogues, who are able to handle the learning, social and mental problems of children and youth age in a complex system, to help them in cooperation with the affected persons, and to maintain, restore and develop the balance between children, young people and the environment. On the basis of their abilities, skills and values, they work effectively in preventing and solving social problems and in promoting social integration of those affected. Who are ready to continue their studies at Master’s level.

 

Fields of the programme:

Social sciences and humanities (sociology, legal science, education sciences, psychology, multidisciplinary social sciences) 145 credits, of which

- social pedagogy, theory and practice, forms and methods of social work, 52 credits;

- social studies 21 credits;

- society and social policy 12 credits;

- psychology 25 credits;

- pedagogy 21 credits;

- law and legal management 15 credits;

- healthcare and health sciences knowledge 9 credits.

 

The specialization recommended by the educational institution is the theoretical and practical knowledge suitable for cultivation of the field, which develops personal skills and produces specific competencies related to individual interest.

The credit ratio of optional knowledge is 30-40 credits.

 

Requirements of the practical training:

Practical training includes small classroom exercises, field exercises and small group processing seminars related to field exercises.

Intensive field exercise means a continuous practice for at least one semester (twelve to fifteen weeks) with a credit value of 30 credits

 

5. Special Needs Educator and Therapist (Learning Disabilities and Difficulties) BA

Duration of studies: 8 semesters

Required number of credits for Bachelor’s degree: 240 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The aim of the training is to train special needs educators who, with the advanced theoretical and methodological knowledge of special education and boundary sciences, the skills required for special education activities and the professional and practical knowledge, help the disabled, injured and handicapped children, young people and adults to develop their abilities, to correct and compensate their functional disorders (cognitive, social, somatic, sensory, perceptual), to manage their lifestyle difficulties, help by their rehabilitation, by organization of their environment and by their social integration. Who professionally assist the different disabled, injured and handicapped groups and carry out complex special needs development, education, teaching, habilitation and rehabilitation in the chosen specialization. Who are ready to continue their studies at Master’s level.

 

Fields of the program:

a) 62-78 credits of general knowldge in special education, of which:

aa) social sciences (history of science, history of pedagogy, legal science, IT, research methodology), special education (human biology, medicine, psychology, education sciences, linguistics, knowledge of skills and personality development, sensory and movement development, art education) 28-32 credits;

ab) professional theoretical knowledge of special education in common special education field (special education theory, history, special education psychology and psychodiagnostics), practical and methodological knowledge of special pedagogy (methodology of complex educational, teaching, development, habilitation, rehabilitation procedures, basic and methodological knowledge according to the fields of knowledge) 30-50 credits;

b) professional education skills according to the type of injury in the chosen specialization 50-70 credits;

c) professional education knowledge extending the chosen specialization and strengthening the pedagogical tasks in the fields of public education or special education knowledge of second specialization 50-70 credits

d) practical training module 30 credits.

e.) professional knowledge of the specialization in pedagogics of people with learning disabilities, complex diagnostic, development, educational, teaching, habilitation and rehabilitation theoretical, practical and methodological knowledge of specific population groups of the specialization (one of the specializations according to injury types is compulsory) 50-70 credits.

Related practical training in case of a special education specialization: 30 credits

 

Requirements of the practical training:

Parts of the practical training:

- classroom observation visits, individual and small group exercises, self-knowledge, communication and development trainings, exercises performed in practice-oriented studies related to the specialization, and

- related practical training.

The related practical training is an individual practice in the last semester of the program, the credit value of which is 30 credits in the case of a special education specialization, and 30-50 credits for two specializations. The duration of the related practical training is 12-15 weeks, which can be carried out at an institution or organization with an activity related to the content of the specialization.

 

6. Communication and Media Science BA

Duration of studies: 6 semesters

Required number of credits for Bachelor’s degree: 180 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The aim of the program is to train communication professionals who are familiar with institutions and institutional systems operating at different levels of communication. Who are familiar with the scenes of social communication, the structure of institutions operating there, the major institutions of communication and media as well as the operation of communication and media. Who are fully capable of performing communication tasks in institutions in the scenes of communication with their acquired knowledge, skills and attitudes. Who are ready to continue their studies at Master’s level.

 

Fields of the program:

Indicated competencies can be acquired through the acquisition of knowledge and skills of professional socialization, and the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge built into the program:

- basic knowledge of communication and social sciences 40-55 credits [man and society, social communication, basics of social sciences, basics of social psychology; foundation practice module, communication professional competence development (written and medial practical communication skills, communication research methodological knowledge)];

- communication theory and practice studies 101-116 credits (communication scenes, communication theories and models, operation of communication institutions and communicative functioning of institutions, medial aspects of communication, culture and communication, visual communication, professional practical knowledge).

The specialization recommended by the educational institution is the theoretical and practical knowledge suitable for cultivation of the field, which develops personal skills and produces specific competencies related to individual interest. Credit value of optional knowledge within the communication theoretical and practical studies is 40-44 credits. 

 

Requirements of the practical training:

The practical training is at least 80 hours of practice in institutions at different scenes of communication.

 

7. Human Resource Counselling MA

Duration of studies: 4 semesters

Required number of credits for Master’s degree: 120 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The aim of the course is to train professionals who, with their human and economic knowledge and their interdisciplinary approach, are capable of detailed analysis, preparing comprehensive and specific contexts, advisory and evaluation activities in the world of organizations, work, employment and education. Who use their professional knowledge according to the different professional expectations of a particular workplace, support the macro-processes of labour management and education; are able to identify specific professional problems and to formulate practical tasks required for their solution. Who help individuals to make their career planning decisions, whose advisory activities are determined by the knowledge of labour market and organizational processes. Who are ready to continue their studies at doctoral level.

 

Fields of the program:

-          knowledge developing general competencies and founding education (humanities, education sciences, social sciences, IT communication, research methodology) 17 credits;

-          psychological knowledge 15 credits;

-          management knowledge 17 credits;

-          social knowledge 17 credits;

-          consultancy knowledge 16 credits;

-          economics 6 credits;

-          adult education 9 credits.

 

Requirements of the practical training:

Practical training includes general practical training (30 hours), intensive field practice (110 hours) and an additional out-of-school practice (30 hours). Within the program, the credit for the entire practice is 13 credits.

Aim of the practice is that during their practice, students work on solving a problem in an organization. Students can freely choose the venue of the practice, which can be any domestic or foreign company performing production, service or trade activities in Hungary, or all areas of the public sphere (education, training, labour, control), where profession-related topics can be interpreted and problems can be identified.

 

8. Educational Science MA

Duration of studies: 4 semesters

Required number of credits for Master’s degree: 120 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The purpose of the course is to train professionals who, with the knowledge and skills acquired, have adequate knowledge in the field of cultivating and applying educational sciences. Who are able to carry out research and application tasks in public education, higher education and in education, to take part in the tasks of system-level operation, to carry out tasks in the field of research and development, to communicate domestic results of education in domestic and international professional forums. Who are ready to continue their studies at doctoral level.

 

Fields of the program:

Theoretical and conceptual system of educational science [theoretical and historical pedagogy, pedagogical (cultural) anthropology, comparative pedagogy] 15-20 credits;

Psychological, social, political and legal background of education, teaching and training and their Hungarian and international aspects, trends (social and sociological, psychological, legal, operation and management basics of education and their institutions) 15-20 credits;

Main fields of education, teaching and civilization research and their research methodology (civilization and education research, methods of educational research, research methodological foundation of different research strategies) 15-20 credits;

Educational and other institutions of education and training, as well as organisational and socialising forms of pedagogical innovation and support of organisational development (pedagogy of early childhood, school pedagogy, vocational training, social pedagogy, adult education and knowledge management, higher education pedagogy) 25-30 credits;

Compulsory specialization 40-45 credits.

Requirements of the practical training:

Practical training is a fieldwork carried out in different stages and institutions of public education and higher education, the duration of which is defined by the programme's study plan in connection with specializations.

 

9. Teacher of Agricultural Engineering (Agriculture / Forestry and Wildlife-economics)

Duration of studies: in divided training: 4 or 2 semesters

Training objectives and professional competences:

To train teachers who are able to teach theoretical and theory-intensive vocational subjects in the field of agriculture in classes with the purpose of acquiring school education and teaching qualification in school based and non-formal vocational schools and secondary schools in retraining and further education of adults and in the vocational training specified in the National Qualifications Register, to carry out pedagogical tasks, to introduce and transfer practical and special knowledge of agriculture, to organize class, teaching facility and specialized laboratory education, to develop attitudes necessary for sustainable agricultural production in the field of agricultural vocational education, to carry out pedagogical research, planning and development tasks, and to fulfil age-related problems of participants of vocational training and their special education, as well as to prepare them to continue their studies at doctoral level.

If the candidate has previously acquired public education work experience, based on the successful recognition procedure after enrolment, the training period will be reduced to 3 semesters, in which the individual related school practice is 1 semester.

Those can apply for a 2-semester course who have a Master’s (or equivalent university, undivided) degree in forest engineering, wildlife-economics engineering or agricultural engineering in accordance with the specialization offered, or are currently participating in such training

Purpose of the practical training is to acquire practical knowledge related to the qualification (e.g. preparation for class sessions, class planning, class management, teacher roles, pedagogical measurements and experiments), to get acquainted with the world of work (e.g. school life, school leadership, communicating with parents), and with the evaluation, development and research of teaching, learning and education processes for the effectiveness of their future work.

 

10. Teacher of Economics (Trade and Marketing)

Duration of studies: 4 or 2 semesters

Training objectives and professional competences:

The purpose of the training is to train teachers who are able to teach theory-intensive vocational subjects in the economic field (economics, business) in classes with the purpose of acquiring school education and teaching qualification in school based and non-formal vocational schools and secondary schools in retraining and further education of adults and in the vocational training specified in the National Qualifications Register, to carry out pedagogical tasks, to organize class, practice firm and practice shop education, to carry out pedagogical research, planning and development tasks in the field of economic vocational education, and to fulfil age-related problems of participants of vocational training and their special education, as well as to prepare them to continue their studies at doctoral level.

If the candidate has previously acquired public education work experience, based on the successful recognition procedure after enrolment, the training period will be reduced to 3 semesters, in which the individual related school practice is 1 semester.

Those can apply for a 2-semester course who have a Master's (or equivalent university, undivided) degree in economics in accordance with the specialization offered, or are currently participating in such training.

Requirements of the practical training practice:

The purpose of the professional practice is to acquire practical knowledge related to the qualification (e.g. preparation for class sessions, class planning, class management, teacher roles, pedagogical measurements and experiments), to get acquainted with the world of work (e.g. school life, school leadership, communicating with parents), and with the evaluation, development and research of teaching, learning and education processes for the effectiveness of their future work.

 

11. Teacher of Engineering (Timber Industry Engineering / Light Industry Engineering / Environmental Protection and Water Management)

Duration of studies: in divided training: 4 or 2 semesters

Required number of credits for Master’s degree: 120 credits

Training objectives and professional competences:

The purpose of the training is to train teachers who are able to teach theory-intensive vocational subjects in the technical and IT field in classes with the purpose of acquiring school education and teaching qualification in school based and non-formal vocational schools and secondary schools in retraining and further education of adults  and in the vocational training specified in the National Qualifications Register, to carry out pedagogical tasks, to carry out pedagogical research, planning and development tasks in the field of technical and IT vocational education, and to fulfil age-related problems of participants of vocational training and their special education, as well as to prepare them to continue their studies at doctoral level.

Those can apply for a 4-semester training course who have a Bachelor’s (or equivalent college) degree in engineering in accordance with the specializations offered. If the candidate has previously acquired public education work experience, based on the successful recognition procedure after enrolment, the training period will be reduced to 3 semesters, in which the individual related school practice is 1 semester.

Those can also apply for a 4-semester training course who have a Bachelor’s (or equivalent college) degree in vocational education in accordance with the specializations offered. (For them, the 4-semester training course is different in structure and content.)

Those can apply for a 2-semester course who have a Master’s (or equivalent university) degree in engineering in accordance with the specialization offered, or are currently participating in such training.
