International Students Enjoy a Unique Recreational Event Organized by Lamfalussy Faculty Student

On October 22, 2025, the Alexandre Lámfalussy Faculty of Economics, in collaboration with the International Office of the university, hosted a vibrant “Meet and Game” evening for students of the University of Sopron. Caleb Omabuwa, a student at the Alexandre Lamfalussy Faculty, took charge of organizing the event.The recreational event, held at the VUK Dormitory, aimed to promote inclusion, foster intellectual engagement, and strengthen bonds among students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.

The successful gathering brought together more than 30 students representing different faculties, programs, and languages of study. Participants connected and interacted through a range of critical thinking games, E-games, and leisure activities designed to stimulate the mind while ensuring plenty of fun.
The university provided a variety of games and snacks to create a relaxed and engaging evening. Two friendly tournaments added a competitive spark to the evening; a ♟️Chess Tournament and a ⚽️FIFA (Football Gaming) Tournament.
In the end, Mika, an Erasmus student from Germany 🇩🇪 , emerged as the Chess Champion, while Zaid, a Stipendium Hungaricum student from Jordan 🇯🇴 , claimed victory in the FIFA Tournament.
The Meet and Game event was more than just an evening of play, it was a celebration of diversity, connection, and the spirit of community that defines the University of Sopron.

On 19^th November 2025, students of the Alexandre Lámfalussy Faculty of Economics organized an Intercultural Evening.

The event was held at the Ligneum, by the Alexandre Lamfalussy Faculty of Economics in collaboration with its third-year students. The aim of the evening was to celebrate the cultural diversity of the University of Sopron and to bring together people from different backgrounds. The event welcomed around 100 students, staff members, professors, and international guests. Cultures from 17 countries were showcased through food tasting, cultural dances and songs, presentations, games, and fun activities that created an exciting and welcoming atmosphere. At the end of the evening participants voted for the best cultural displays, awarding Tunisia as the winner and Bangladesh as the runner-up.

It was a memorable night full of learning, laughter, and global connections that truly highlighted the beauty of cultural exchange.

International Students of Sopron Faculty of Economics Explore Mosonmagyaróvár

Following the end of the spring semester, the international students of our faculty once again took part in a joint excursion, this time discovering the town of Mosonmagyaróvár.

Following the end of the spring semester, the international students of our faculty once again took part in a joint excursion, this time discovering the town of Mosonmagyaróvár.

During the morning program, the students visited the Futura Visitor Center, Hungary’s largest scientific playhouse, offering a wide range of interactive experiences. Although the exhibition primarily provides insight into the world of natural sciences, this did not discourage our economics students in the slightest: they enthusiastically tried out the interactive installations, with the water-related demonstrations proving especially popular. However, the greatest highlight for them was the film about space telescopes shown in the inflatable planetarium.

After lunch, an especially unique activity awaited the group. Thanks to Tamás Tóth, leader of the Lajta Tour Association, our students had the opportunity to take part in a canoe tour on the River Lajta. As it turned out, many of them had never sat in a canoe before, so paddling was both a challenge and an unforgettable experience. During the tour, the group navigated under bridges, occasionally got stuck along the riverbank, and even enjoyed some “water sliding.” A few participants quite literally did not stay dry.

At the end of the cheerful and memorable day, the group headed back to Sopron tired but full of wonderful experiences after enjoying ice cream together.
